| The Kodak dye sublimation printer allows you to add a clear protective coating on top of all your prints.
This keeps plastic folders from lifting off the color (you may have had this happen to xeroxed pages; all the black ink gets stuck to the plastic sleeve). The attractive colors are as bright today as they were when we printed them in 1996. We don't exactly expose these to sunlight, but no one in our office has noticed any fading on the Kodak dye sub prints. What is dye sub useful for? Why buy a dye sub printer? If you have pride in your photography, a dye-sub printer will make your photographs look even better. For your portfolio, a dye-sub print will make a much better impression than a cheap ink jet print. The image here is a snapshot with a Nikon CoolPix 950 of the title page of a chapter from a forthcoming book of Nicholas Hellmuth, on 1000 years of Classic Maya art of Guatemala, Mexico, and Belize. This is an actual print from a Kodak Photo CD. |
